Installation
1. Storage prior to installation
Hydraulic cylinders must be stored in a covered and dry space without industrial vapours and acid substances and with a constant temperature above 5°C. If the storage time exceeds six months, the hydraulic cylinder should be connected to a hydraulic system and moved from the start to end position at least five times every 6 months.
2. Pre-installation preparations
It is necessary to clean and wash out the inner surface of the connecting pipes and other connecting elements prior to connection to the hydraulic cylinder. The system must be provided with sufficient support and corresponding connecting elements according to the size of the cylinder and type of connection. Keep all the inner components of the hydraulic cylinders clean and remove the protective plugs just prior to connecting the pipeline.
3. System installation
The installation position of the hydraulic cylinder is optional; however, sufficient access for future maintenance must be provided. Hydraulic cylinders can only work properly if they are installed in such a way that no external forces are applied to the piston rod and (pipe) enclosure when they are at a standstill. During operation the forces must only be applied axially, since radial or tangential loads may cause damage to the guide elements, running surfaces, seals and other cylinder components. Pipelines should be short and as straight as possible without using unnecessary corner and bend fittings which would result in a drop in pressure. The connection of the pipelines should be carried out by a professional that specializes in hydraulics. With double-acting cylinders, ensure a free backflow of the hydraulic fluids from the hydraulic cylinder back to the system.
Application
1. Start-up
Prior to the start-up of the hydraulic system for working under maximum load, all the system components must be thoroughly washed out. For this purpose, the installation of the hydraulic cylinder should be implemented using flexible couplings. Following washing out, all the filtering elements should be thoroughly cleaned and if necessary replaced with new ones. Hydraulic cylinders must be thoroughly emptied by means of a bleed valve or by unscrewing the connections. After the oil is heated up to its working temperature, check that all the joints and connections are completely tight. If necessary, retighten the joints and screws.
2. Operation
With double-acting hydraulic cylinders, the pressure at the side of the piston rod (head) should not exceed the operating pressure. Due to the ratio between the piston and the piston rod surface, operation on the side of the piston (bottom) is permitted only when there is no danger of stall pressure built-up in the hydraulic cylinder.
3. Unsuitable working conditions
The hydraulic medium must comply with the prescribed regulations. The operating pressure and temperature must not exceed the values prescribed.
Maintenance
All the hydraulic parts are lubricated with the hydraulic medium; therefore, no special maintenance needs to be applied. Check for medium leakage at regular time intervals. In the event of significant leakage, replace the seals or return the hydraulic cylinder to our company for inspection and seal replacement. Lubricate the bearing and bushes at regular time intervals. When ordering spare parts, the type of the hydraulic valve needs to be specified. Fitting hydraulic cylinders, start-up and maintenance should only be done by professionally qualified personnel. To achieve a faultless operation and a long service life, the instructions given must be followed and the system kept clean.
